Jason
For nearly 25 years Jason has immersed himself in climbing and its community. His passion for all things climbing, particularly bouldering, trad and mountaineering, has taken him on some incredible adventures around the world. His favourite crags remain in good old Yorkshire though, in particular our local Caley crag.

Josh
Hi, I’m Josh, I’ve been here since 2021. I love the movement & puzzle of climbing. As a coach helping people conquer their projects or seeing people have those light bulb moments when they tackle a problem is what I really enjoy.

Kev
I was introduced to climbing by a friend whilst undertaking my Sports Science degree in 2020. Since then, I have obtained an MSc in Performance Nutrition, a level 3 certificate in personal training and surrounded myself with everything climbing related. I have always been the sporty type but found my passion and place within climbing (specifically bouldering) I started working for the Lab in mid 2022 and through this, I have met some great people and my climbing has improved drastically. My main climbing goal is to ascend an 8A boulder outdoors.
If you need any nutrition, fitness or climbing help or even want a friendly face to talk to, don’t be afraid to come up and say hi, I’m always up for a chat.

George
Hi, I’m George and I’m part of the route setting team here at The Lab. You might also see me around reception and instructing. I’ve been climbing for 12 years now, and route setting for around 2 and a half of that. Setting has allowed me to build my climbing skills and try to become the best climber I can be. I like to use these skills on reel rock as much as possible around the UK and Europe. My favourite climbing destinations are North Wales and Fontainebleau. But I’m definitely partial to an indoor comp style bloc!
If you have any questions about route setting and climbing, or just a general chat, then feel free to come say hi!

Fern
Hiiiii, I'm Fern
I have been climbing for a few years, starting out on my climbing journey here at the Lab. I'm originally from Newcastle, but consider Leeds my home. I love to get out to Caley for its slabs, weather permitting! The best place I have ever climbed was Hampi in India, it was like being in the Flintstones, boulders as far as the eye could see 😍
If I'm not climbing or out in nature, I'm probably doing something arty or running my side biz, putting taxidermy butterflies and moths into frames (called 'Dead Petal Pretties').

Ruairidh
I’ve been working at The Lab since 2019. Climbing is probably one of the biggest things in my life and it's given me a lot, including some of the best people I know (some of whom I work with). This year I'm most excited about getting out to the crag and improving as a trad climber, and hopefully seeing lots of new people there too.

Willow
Like so many of us, I started climbing at university as a way of clearing my mind. I quickly developed a love for technical, flowy climbs that felt more like dancing than pull-ups :) For me personally, climbing has always been about the outdoors and I've been very lucky to have tried out lots of different types of climbing such as ice and alpine climbing, trad, sport multi pitch and single pitch, bouldering and deep water solo! I do also love indoor climbing walls, for the community and the ease of access to high volumes of great routes and boulders.

Ben
Hi my names Ben I started climbing 5 years ago and have been obsessed since.
Before coming down to Leeds for uni and climbing at the lab I’d mainly be seen climbing at the valley in Newcastle or out bouldering in Northumberland were I fell in love with outdoor climbing having luckily got into it quite early in my time climbing. You’ll see me mostly around the different gyms in Leeds and likely sat under one of the training boards.

M
Hi, I’m M
I’m addicted to all things outdoor! especially climbing, hiking and wild swimming; the night sky in Cumbria is something else.
I love to recharge through lots of yoga, writing music and any form of art, I’m a huge foodie and I’m always asking the guys at work what they’re having for dinner !

George
I'm George (the original one) off of "Free Coaching Tuesdays with George" at The Climbing Lab. 15 years of climbing across trad, sport, and boulder leave me well equipped to help you with your climbing needs from performance tuition to simply helping you enjoy your sessions. While I'm cursed with a regular 9-5 job outside of the climbing industry, I still fit in as much climbing and training as possible. You'll find me at The Lab on weekday evenings trying my hand on the latest blocs, or out at the crag at the weekend. I'm always happy to help with problems big or small, so don't be a stranger!
-
Ellie
I’m Ellie! I’ve been working at the Lab and have been part of the community for a good 5 years now! Currently, I’m coaching ladies night on a Monday evening whilst working the 9-5 throughout the week - Carbon Consultant by day and climber by night! You’ll probably see me around, or if not, my van/home in the carpark or my golden cocker running round the centre!
-
Gracie
Hi my name is Gracie and i help run the women’s social on a Monday. I’ve been climbing for 6 years and grown up with it. It’s my favourite thing to do.
-
Jamie
Hi, Jamie here. I've been climbing and mountaineering for around 15 years now. I love every aspect of the sport, but my true passion is big and adventurous multipitches, and chasing the dirt bag lifestyle.
Besides this, my degree is in Sports and Exercise theory so feel free to pick my brains about training and all things climbing :)

Maebh
Hi I'm Maebh, I began indoor bouldering when I turned 11 years old. Since then I have been obsessed with climbing, the puzzle solving, range of possibilities and individuality of the sport completely drew me in.
I have stuck to my roots with predominantly bouldering inside but can't wait to properly explore the world of outdoor bouldering one day. My favourite thing in climbing is a slab route with tiny little crimps to project. My least favourite is definitely anything involving a sloper.

Archie
Hello I'm Archie!
Coming from the flattest part of the country (Norfolk), my climbing career only truly began when I came to Leeds for Uni. After a 4 year break from climbing I decided it was time to take the sport back up so at the beginning of my second year I started to come to the LAB and never looked back! 3 years later and I'm now behind the velvet rope, rocking the classic blue staff uniform!
Find me behind the desk complaining that my skin is bad, out on the mats complimenting the new set or at the crag eating all your snacks.
